Errors & Fixes!
On August 19, our Crypto Pirate game that has been running for 4 years had its first error that affected the daily payment pool being paid and daily balance payment. It was determined the pool was not paid out and no pirates received their daily balance payment. Everyone’s ship balance stayed the same essentially as if August 19 never happened. Also, no Pirate Leaderboard points were awarded for that day.
At the time, I did not know the cause, but on August 20, the error occurred again. This time I decided to send the pool payments and daily balance payment manually. Upon attempting to send manually the pool payment, I discovered the error was in the web host enforcing a SQL database request limit not imposed before. I had to modify some code and was then able to send both payments. In sending the pool payment manually, I made a mistake only partially fixing the code the first time and some people received double or triple Pirate points or bonus pool amounts. To be fair to all, I removed the extra Pirate Point payments this evening. Any extra pool payment bonuses in Gold Coins, I decided to let the users keep.
Since then the past two days, there has been no issues, and I believe the problem is behind us.
